While we totally embrace getting older (and finer!), there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to look our very best in the process. Here are a few tips to keep the most supple and glowing skin while reducing wrinkles and dryness.

1. Less hot showers, more cool ones.
As much as we love a scolding steamy hot shower, the hot water removes the natural oils from our skin. Try turning the dial down a smidge towards the lukewarm side when washing your face or showering to prevent dryness and irritation.
2. Boost your night moisturizer with an oil
When you grab your favorite moisturizer at night, try mixing in a few drops of Rosehip Seed Oil or Argan Oil. Both of these oils have essential fatty acids and vitamins that support skin regeneration while you sleep. And yes, you’ll definitely go to sleep looking like a glazed doughnut.
3. Bust out that dry brush
I swear by dry brushing before hopping into the shower. Not only does it give you a nice tingly feeling, but it also helps exfoliate your skin and boost circulation.
Starting at your feet, take a soft bristle body brush in circular motions upwards, towards your heart. Since dry brushing helps remove dead skin cells, you’ll find that your skin absorbs your lotions and butters so much better! The result? Baby smooth skin.

4. ALWAYS wear sunscreen
If you want to speed up the appearance of wrinkles, not using sunscreen will surely make it happen sooner rather than later. Pleeeeease make sure you are protecting that gorgeous skin of yours with a broad-spectrum SPF of no less than 30. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Cloudy days too!
5. Ditch the cotton pillowcase for silk or satin.
Cotton pillowcases may cause friction on the skin, resulting in creasing and wrinkles over time. A bonus is that silk or satin pillowcases are also super gentle on your hair, which helps to reduce hair breakage.
6. Break out the Gua Sha
Not only is this tool affordable, but it does an amazing job of chiseling out that jawline and smoothing fine lines. There are plenty of quick tutorials on YouTube on how to properly move the gua sha across your skin. can improve circulation, reduce sagging, and even promote collagen production.

7. Fats, Fruits, and Veg
We all know that what you put inside your body can show on the outside. Try to incorporate healthy fats (like omega-3s), fruits, and vegetables to nourish your skin from the inside. Food like salmon, avocados, nuts, and berries promote beautiful, healthy skin.
8. Drink your wataaaa!
I had to add this as the last one, although I’m certain you know this one already. But as a struggling recovering sweet tea addict, water makes a MAJOR difference in your skin with consistency. It is a surefire way to hydrate your skin from the inside out.
These tips are just a few ways to keep your skin healthy, plump, and hydrated as we age. Wanna know a secret? I sometimes slather on a bit of Vaseline on my face and neck in the winter, to lock in the moisture. Anybody else do that? Just me?
