Odd Tips to Build Your Confidence

Odd Tips to Build Your Confidence

Start a conversation with or compliment a stranger ONCE a day. It’s a quick confidence booster, as you will begin to feel more comfortable interacting with people.

Some ideas to start are complimenting them on something they are wearing, asking for their opinion on something like food or places to go, or simply making a joke – we all love to laugh!

Wear a bold color, a wildly printed top, or just a piece of clothing you love, but are afraid to wear in public. This challenges you to stand out and own your style, even if it’s unconventional.

Challenge yourself to try something new or different. I have used the Meetup app to join groups that have similar interests. Attending various group events has helped improve my confidence tremendously.

Not only do you meet new people, but you are brought together in this group because you already have something in common! WIN!

Every time you start to say something bad about yourself, pause and immediately counter it with a compliment. Never let a negative thought stand alone. Replace it ASAP with a positive one.

Write 3 Achievements Every Day

Big or small, write down 3 things you accomplished each day. This helps you recognize your successes and appreciate your abilities.

Take a Solo Trip to an Unknown Place.

While it is never easy getting out of your comfort zone, taking a solo trip can surely help boost your confidence. No need to go too far; maybe just a few cities away from where you live.

You are trusting yourself to navigate an unfamiliar area. The best part is that you come back having learned something new about yourself every time you do it.

Be mindful of your body language. Stand up straight and avoid looking down while walking. When you speak to a stranger, keep your arms uncrossed and maintain eye contact. Smile genuinely and nod every now and then to show understanding.

These strategies may feel a bit odd at first, but they all work by pushing you out of your comfort zone and helping you practice being more vulnerable and growing!

I still get nervous sparking a conversation with strangers, but the more I do it, the less I think about the awkwardness of it all. You just gotta get out of your head and keep practicing.

What methods have you personally tried to boost your confidence?
